    Hello

to paraphrase Caesar - I came, I saw, I joined......

with a lot of trepidation one may add...

I have been a member on a number of Pagan/Heathen websites but have never "fitted" into a convenient bracket for them to catalogue and file away...and so, after a number of posts I have lost interest and drifted away...actually I tend to drift all the time - it's a shamanic can't pin me down thing

what do I mean by shamanic.....hel why did i start this....bear with me as this is extreme soul searching and probably confused...

amalgamate Heathenry, buddhism, animism and spiritulism (without a christian overtone), add a veneration for all things, the belief that everything has a spirit and must be treated with respect, throw in spirit contact and a certain magical element and you end up with a path that has a foot in this materialist world and one that is in the spiritual and never quite sure which is which

confused....so am i most of the time....but it's my path

No altars, no rituals, just e staring into the void and yelling "go on take your best shot...but make it count".....gods...yes I have interacted with a few...but i will not kow-tow and worship any although Thor is a pretty good guy and Freya is often around....

of me...failed academic with a couple of degrees in archaeology concentrating on the pagan anglo-saxon period...failed Theatre Nurse...failed writer...

often depressive, usually solitary (apart from my girlfriend)

I keep fish, research and write, investigate hauntings and traditional sites, ride a damn great motorcycle, am vegetarian and like making things and feel completely in the wrong time period

so i'm going to take things easy and see how things go on here

    brightest of blessings to all

    Chris

    Re: Hello

Just don't be bitchy and snide, well at least not too much and not all the time and you'll fit just fine. We aren't all anything here, except people looking for stuff.

Or not looking and okay with that.

I think we're all people, right?

You sound like you should do just fine around here...

We tend to be a wee bit on the snarky side, but mostly because we have a bunch of wierd, often sarcastic senses of humor. I'll admit, not everyone fits in here...we have a bunch of atheists (some of whom are former Pagans) and a Christian (sometimes more than one) and a Muslim (sometimes we have more than one, but we only have one regualr) and a ton of different sorts of Pagans. I think our biggest Pagan group here are the "non-denominational" crowd (some of which may or may not be eclectic), followed by the Heathens, but we have a smattering of everything. The biggest thing we get snippy about is being an ass about someone else's faith--we really do hold down the multi-faith, interfaith-friendly thing here.

Welcome aboard! Please leave any lingering sanity at the front desk, you won't be needing it here.

We're a generally eclectic group. We steal membership from everywhere so whether or not any given individual fits is almost never immediately apparent and has effectively zilch to do with most people's beliefs. Past that, shrug, excesses of cruelty are restricted privileges. I have to share them with staff by virtue of not wanting to get my a** kicked. I don't share them with standard members so there will be snark here and there but there are limits to how much unpleasantness the staff is normally willing to tolerate.

Don't know. Some people have this narrow definition of a person that requires one to be human and I reject that classification.
Life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

        Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Welcome from me as well! I hope you like it here. This is a super diverse and accepting place, I find it very nice indeed, and I don't even fit into the name of the site .
