"Close your eyes, take 20 paces farther than you thought nessesary and just when you think you've lost your way completely.. you'll be there. open your eyes" Alice Hoffman
Life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.
Yoda: Dark Rendezvous
"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."
John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper
"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

So I got my results from the doctor's visit today!
~A1C test: Last December my A1C test(the test that measures your glucose levels over an overall 3 month period)was a 9.7%. This is considered VERY HIGH. Doctors want Diabetics to get at a 7% or lower. I came back at a 6.6%! THIS is what I've been hoping for! All the working out and dieting actually brought good results! And this was only in a 2 month period. My new goal will be to get to a 6.4%. My control is considered excellent to very excellent. While my risk factor is now at low to very low. Also my fasting glucose bg came back as 85. He says that I shouldn't control it too tight! No lower then 70! I'm doing good!
~Thyroid, liver and kidney functions are all normal.
~Blood pressure is still high. I was a 150/71. But this is quite lower then before when I would be in the 190s.
~Cholesterol.
Total cholesterol = 100
(less then 200 is desirable)
Triglycerides= 164
(less then 150 is normal)
HDL= 35
(less than 40 considered risk for heart diseas)
LDL=35
(less than 100 is optimal)
On the cholesterol front my doctor wanted to know what kind of diet I was one to have such good numbers!
White blood cells= my count is slighting elevated. He says I could have an infection I'm fighting. And that if I come back in three months and it's still high, he will refer me to a blood specialist to take a closer look. He also says it could be due to stress. So..I'll have to watch that!*eyes Hassan. No more you are right! Now I am always right! :P
AND...I have my eye doctor appt in June! I've been waiting a year to get my eyes finally checked! I had done it through Walmart and paid out of pocket. But I'd like to get some advanced Diabetes prevention tests through the county. And it's free!
All in all I am very happy about my results. I really needed the doctor to alleviate some stress over my progress. I needed to see the actual numbers myself. I feel happier about this then the weight loss to be honest. He told me to keep this up because though there isn't a cure, taking care of myself can prolong my life to 120! Or so he says!
So now I know what to work on. Gonna try to raise my HDL. I did some research and I seem to be doing all the things I should be. I was reading about exercising and how for HDL it's not the intensity of the workout but the length of time. So my hour of slow swimming actually is doing good for me!
