Re: What Are You Thinking About?
My Mom has absolutely no ability to differentiate between science and pseudoscience. If I try to explain to her why a particular, expensive "medical" gadget that she has invested in may not be all it's cracked up to be, she guilt trips me and tells me I'm being mean. I've tried suggesting that she become more acquainted with mainstream science so that she has a better grasp on the actual theories that these people claim to be basing their products on, but she dismisses it because mainstream science is "too skeptical" and tells me not to be such a skeptic myself. Well if science isn't skeptical and doesn't reject unfounded ideas, how the hell do we decide which ideas are founded in the first place?!! Oh dear.
