Re: What Are You Thinking About?

Well...to be fair, you don't have to refer to all of them at once.

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

I think this is true as well...but what counts as "too much" varies from region to region; even within my home state of North Carolina, what's "good taste" varies from county to county, city to city,...

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

Hmmm....I'm wondering if we're all on the same page here. I'd like to wear a clearer symbol of my religion (should one exist) because, well, my religion makes me happy, and it's part of who I am....

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

I haven't claimed indignation at anything. People will be jerks for all sorts of reasons, not just religion. If I removed all my habits that would set off the jerks in this world, I'd be left with...

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

Eh...other faiths get to wear their symbols. Why can't we? I don't like to think I have to plan my wardrobe around the tastes of bigots.

I actually wear a mala around my wrist, and also have 3 or...

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

Oh, I feel ya. I went to an evangelical high school. I wasn't pagan at the time, but I swear I got more flak then for being Roman Catholic than I do now for being Buddhist and Pagan!

    Re: Insulted for your beliefs?

I do, even to many in religious circles. I am a spirit worker as well as a Buddhist, and I find the latter is an easier to swallow label than the former...especially since I'm so deeply involved with...

    Re: Shinto Group Thread

I've never heard it described that way myself, but it's possible, and in fact quite likely. There's no central religious authority in Shinto the same way there is for say, Roman Catholicism, so...

    Re: Burial methods

I have a very specific plan. I want to be buried in the family graveyard in the Outer Banks, but I don't want to be embalmed. Just a pine box. I also want to have all usable organs removed and...

Poll: Re: Right or Wrong #1: Death Penalty

    Not morally justifiable.

    Benzaiten-shu

My patroness is Sarasvati, and she was present for me in Japan as Benzaiten-sama. VERY present. In fact, I feel her very often more as Benzaiten-sama than as Sarasvati. That's how she came to me....

    Sticky: Re: THE RANT THREAD!

I'm so, so sorry. Have you contacted a lawyer? Even if *you* haven't been charged with anything, getting one would probably make the cops back off. In this case, I'd really, really recommend it....

Re: RELIGION IN AMERICA (the new numbers)

I see that my home state of NC is mostly Protestant, and has "above average" attendance. That's not surprising to me. We're not as, um, evangelical as say Alabama and Mississippi, but we're pretty up...

    Re: Saint Patrick's day?

THIS is sort of what bothers me. I *know* there are good reasons for people to wear kilts and listen to bagpipe music on St. Patrick's day, but around here where I live, most who do smush all the...

This is great! I don't iron my clothes because they are almost all T-Shirts and sweatpants, but I can certainly see how this technique would be useful framed around vacuuming or other household...

Thanks. I think I was just confused, then.
  25. Sticky: Re: Questions, problems, issues, etc...Post 'em here

Thanks for pointing that out; I'll probably leave it as is, since "female" works well enough. I do seem to recall that inputting "male" or "female" was not optional upon signup, though...or at least,...
