One more reason to say no to skinny jeans

Not only do they look dumb on 99% of the people that wear them, they might be bad for your health.

I just like pants I can move in...

I don't wear jeans at all anymore though, they give me a skin reaction. Go figure.

I can't help but think that they must be rather painful too if they cause nerve damage... now, and this may just be me, if clothing hurts to wear I get a bigger size... I mean, wow... I never got that whole suffering for beauty thing... you can look good and be perfectly comfy at the same time.

Okay, much as I think 2/3 of modern fashion should go die in a fire and that overly skinny/tailored items should be among the first to burn...

Is their an actual doctor quoting anywhere that the skinny fit pants caused the compartment syndrome? There is a quote saying that once the swelling (i.e. when her pants are becoming increasingly tight over the course of the day) starts, you already have a problem. The issues with blood flow are from the facia going, "I don't want to expand any more," though and that appears to be a largely internal thing. So if she's already in trouble when the pants became noticeably uncomfortable, do we have evidence that they did anything other than exacerbate matters after she was already in bad shape.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

          Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

I'm still on the team 'let's wear some monk robes all day long'. (Not that I'd do so.)

It surprises me what kind of uncomfortable things people are willing to experience every day just for fashion... *insert a spoonful of hypocricy*

And compartment syndrome sounds horrible! :<

This isn't a new thing... I've heard stories before, both from nurses when I worked in the red cross and from professors (doctors) when I studied medicine... so I'm guessing there is some truth to it.

They work for me with the right clothes. I'm short and slim, so if they end just at the ankle, they make my legs look longer. I don't wear them if they're insanely tight, though. I wear ones that fit and that have a bit of stretch to them (and actually do not own a pair at the moment).

I honestly don't know why you'd wear clothes that cut off your circulation. But that's 30-year-old me talking. 20-year-old me would wear anything in the name of fashion.

It was an article in the Journal of Neurology or something like that.
