    There are multiple versions of many Greek myths, including the origin of Aphrodite. Your version is by Hesiod, the other version is by Homer* (Aphrodite as a child of Zeus and Dione), and some later versions list her as daughter of Kronos and Euonyme or of Uranus and Hemera.

      Oh right thanks most of my sources are modern texts si I know very little about the Homeric hymns I think I prefer Homers' version, love is too elemental a force to be born conventionally in my opinion :P
