It's my understanding that people aren't being taxed into poverty.

I personally knew a person who had to give up their home of many decades because of the ever-increasing property tax.There are lots of older people who are drawing social security based on a past paycheck, and even if the house is paid off, in some places the taxes are much higher than their mortgage payment used to be. One can budget, save, & plan till the cows come home, but when insane increases happen, ain't nobody got bucks fo' dat.

Retired people should never have to pay taxes,they already gave their share over the years.

I agree - and also once a house is paid off. Same for the tax on cars etc. that some states have. Who's to say next year they don't decide, hey let's put an annual use tax on computers, jewelry, etc.? (Haha don't even whisper that in NJ - Gov. Twinkie will get on it faster than his next ice cream cone.)

If the flippin' airline doesn't keep changing stuff. I intend for this to be my grand finale to flying. Now I have to survive it.

People can be so stupid. Last week, after the flooding, I saw some dingbat in a white pickup driving in the creek. So tonight, right alongside the creek, was a white pickup being loaded onto a tow truck. The pickup had mud up to the hood. I can't be 100% sure it was the same dingbat, but the odds are good. The species is devolving.

The meat we ate last night just got recalled because of salmonella. I'm on 24 hours without symptoms, so is my husband (knock on wood)... we do prepare it properly, I don't eat rare meat. But oh, my anxiety is having a blast.

Iris, hope all is well. I've seen numerous recalls lately - I guess there will be more as we lower standards and drop regulations, because, you know, "Bizness" can be trusted to do the right thing. (Snarkorama)

Thanks, I think we're good. 40 hours and neither of us have any symptoms. Just a scare.
Bit annoying, the meat was produced 3 days before we ate it and it only got recalled after. 5 ton of meat. Well, I'm glad I always cook it well.

I abhor a pushy salesperson, and anyone invading my personal space, and pushy religionists, so I got all three in one. Yesterday my town had a little music festival going on. I went and was walking through the vendors, when some little old lady got literally in my face and tried to stuff a leaflet into my hand. I looked at it, and on the front it said "Heaven and How to Get There". So I looked back at her and said "Buy a stairway" and walked away. Not sure if she got it.
