So...I promise I'm not *that* parent. But. Sharkbait is having a Minecraft party for his sleepover.
Since its a sleepover, the way we have traditionally done things (for his sister) is have a theme with some projects that will keep them busy--especially important since most of their toys are packed now. And then food and movies, hopefully followed by sleep.
Hubby and I were thinking cardboard armor, and letting them decorate their own Minecraft outfit (we'd do the cutting out basics ahead of time) and sword (also cardboard or foamboard) something like this (but not so fancy): http://www.instructables.com/id/Cardboard-Armor/ (and then throwing them outside to play with some boxes decorated to look like piggy and creepers, etc)
(random, but PVC bow and arrow=cool: http://www.skiptomylou.org/diy-pvc-bow-and-arrow/ ....I saw an idea for a creeper face bean bag toss target...that would be cool with this)
So far I have:
*decorate the door to the apartment like a Nether portal
*TNT pinata
*square chocolate cake to look like ground block
*some version of this (I've seen a smaller one with glow sticks): http://beafunmum.com/2013/10/minecra...aft-printable/ (usually I get the kids glow sticks for the night time)
*making keychains of the carachters (its easy because they are all pixelated already) or mining blocks from perler beads (or melting pony beads)
Any ideas for food, decorations, games, or for party favor bags? The kits to buy stuff are rediculous because of licensing.
