In The Walking Dead you turn no matter how you die, so there are a few zombies who were people who hanged themselves when the apocalypse happened... and are now zombies hanging from a noose waving their arms around uselessly. There was also some poor wheelchair bound guy who shot himself in the bathtub, but didn't do a very good job of it... so then he was a zombie stuck in a bathtub.

Lesson learned... when the Zombie Apocalypse happens, don't try to hang yourself. It wont work.

All I have to say about Zombie rebellions is that I'm hoping the people who wrote

CONPLAN-8888 did a better job than the planners in World War Z that allowed for a battle where the US Army ran out of ammunition in a key battle on it's home ground.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

      Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

In one book I read (the one where the zombies were actually demons from another dimension who once you died took over your body and ate people) this lady had a baby. She was a zombie. And well...the baby started eating its way out.

I'm not really sure how to define zombie. I've never really been into them. The question only popped in my head because I spent an hour in Cadaver Lab yesterday. The faces were covered out of respect for the dead (except when the Chiropractor Students dissect the heads). The only time I felt any kind of awkward feelings of "what if they move?" was when I was standing near the head... which was most of the time because we were studying Muscles, Fascia and so-on on the trunk and upper extremities.

One thought leads to another... you know how it goes. What types of definitions of zombies are there?

I actually have a novel in the making based on this premise, set in a 19th century provincial English village.

The fungus genus you are thinking of is Cordyceps.

Indian Chief 'Two Eagles' was asked by a white government official; "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."

              The Chief nodded in agreement.

The official continued; "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"

The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied.. "When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine Man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex."

Then the chief leaned back and smiled; "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that."

This very thing was present in the book of World War Z.

So in the book Rise Again, the thinker zombies use these buckets. They poop and pee in them. And then they put the dumb zombie heads and body parts in there (and yes, the dumb zombies just bob up and down eyeballing you with their last good eye). They then put the buckets on the border of their Happy Town. This scent keeps the dumb zombies away. They don't like the smell of the thinker zombies.

Sorta like how you put water jugs out for cats not to pee on your lawn I guess.

                    Zombie jugs for zombie cats.

Ooh a porn thread! Loving this. I have nothing to add about zombie beliefs, but I'm gonna have to make a wishlist based on the books Medusa has read. I particularly like the idea of zombies being able to evolve into sophisticated thinking being's over time. I started writing a zombie fiction in which zombies and the living had a symbiotic relationship. Despite having finished a few long stories
/short novels in the past, I somehow lost interest before the end of that one. Maybe one day.

Nope, everyone who every goes to an island gets zombified. Some infected idiot turns up in a boat and everyone gets undead 'cos they've got nowhere to go.

You need escape routes! Nowhere is safe and everywhere needs at least a Plan B (and preferably also a Plan C).

                            Good question.
But if we're talking about the zombies from the legends, then I think they praise the brain gods.

I wonder if zombies believe in sex after death?

If so, would they, technically, be necrophiliacs?
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

There was a movie I saw not too long ago where zombieism was a sexual transmitted disease. The movie was quite good, and while graphic at times, was not sexually graphic.
