I Want To Be A Witch

I've been thought about this for sometime. I'm been on a religious struggle changing religion to religion. And I've this idea of becoming a witch. Since I'm so curious of spells, magic and witchcraft. I just wanted your opinion, do you think I've what it takes to become a witch?

    BartmanHomer,

I think one aspect you have to consider and solve for yourself is that witchcraft can be a religion and spiritual but it does not mean it has to. Wicca as witchcraft tends to be both religious and spiritual, traditional witchcraft as a practice tends not to be spiritual / religious. Need to realize that one can incorporate craft practices into religious practices but their religion is still separate. As such I would say that spell work, magic, Tarot, Ouija, etc is a craft or practice and does not in and of itself suggest spiritual / religious. Yet each can be included as parts of your belief system being incorporated into your rituals, ceremonies, dedications, etc.

Indian Chief 'Two Eagles' was asked by a white government official; "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."

      The Chief nodded in agreement.

The official continued; "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"

The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied.. "When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine Man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex."

Then the chief leaned back and smiled; "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that."

What monsno said. I used to be a member of another forum where it had to made clear that witchcraft itself is a secular activity. Strange as it sounds, what it means is the practice of using magic requires no belief in any gods, let alone any particular god or spirits. There are Wiccans and Heathens who will use magic, and others who don't, whereas traditional witches recognize no deity in particular.

I am a pagan and a witch, and I incorporate my patron gods into my spellwork most of the time. that being said, it would be entirely possible for me to work those same spells without incorporating the gods into them. my witchcraft is rather spiritual, but my paganism is eclectic and not necessarily Wiccan (although there are similarities.)

I also don't do witchcraft that often. I pretty much save it for a last resort. basically, I have a system: if I can't figure out a non-magical way to solve my problems, then I will pray for help from my gods, and then I will consider doing a spell on top of the other efforts. or I will work the prayer into the spell somehow.

... to be honest, I practice witchcraft so infrequently that sometimes I wonder if I can even still call myself a witch
