I just preformed my first ritual to mark the Winter Solstice. It was very informal, a simple libation and prayer to Dionysos and Ariadne. I offered myrrh incense, bread and wine. It wasn't as ''professional'' as I would have liked but it was my first time and I explained in the prayer that my intent was respectful. I just thought I'd share this with my fellow pagans. :^^:

Re: My first Winter Solstice
No need for it to be professional, make your offering from the heart, not a scriptI'm not one to ever pray for mercy
Or to wish on pennies in the fountain or the shrine
But that day you know I left my money
And I thought of you only
All that copper glowing fine

You missed it if you weren't up this morning to watch the thickly overcast sky get a little less dark.I'm not one to ever pray for mercy

And I thought of you only

I agree with Briton. It doesn't have to be a formal affair. I hope you had a Merry Yule!Anubisa

Re: My first Winter Solstice
Many Heathens celebrate 12 days of Yule, beginning on the night before the solstice itself, and ending on New Year's Eve. Each night is dedicated to a different deity, ancestors, family and community. I light candles and incense on the altar and say some prayers and dedications. It's what you make it, either very ornate or very simple.śivāya vishnu rūpaya śivaḥ rūpaya vishnave

Re: My first Winter Solstice
I live far enough south that this entire week has pretty much the same amount of sunlight unless you're counting by the second so we are celebrating on Christmas Eve and Christmas because I have those days off in there on a weekend not on a freaking Monday but when yule on the weekend we celebrate it then or whenever it is we have the time offWonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of HistoryPagan Devotionals, because the wind and the rain is our Bible
