    Re: The Decline of Humanity

The world hasn't changed. Humanity hasn't changed. The only thing that has changed is we have he technology to destroy more and send hate faster and farther. We've always been horrible. That hasn't declined or otherwise.

Nori, your life isn't a norse or greek tragedy. It's just life. Just like the rest of us. Trust me.

        Re: The Decline of Humanity

        ^^ this.

You know, if you asked around and got to know the people on here, you would find enough stories of Life, the Universe and Everything to realise that no, you're not alone. There are some terrible tales tucked away.

But it was ever so. No better, no worse. Maybe what you need most is to look for some good things. I don't mean 'concentrate on the positive' because I don't think you're in a place to do that just yet. But I think you need to get up in the morning and feel glad to be alive, and hopeful.

I've been through lots of 'stuff' - good and bloody dire - but I remaIN and optimist at heart, someone who is glad to be able to get up in the mornings because the opposite is too horrible to contemplate.

Stop worry about Greek Tragedy. Try reading a few Greek Comedies instead... much more fun. And I really do wish you luck. Lives can be turned around, really they can. It takes a lot of hard work and sometimes it never quite seems to enter the mead hall - but life can definitely get better.

I do not doubt for a second that everyone has had many misfortunes but all I gave you was the basics. There is more detail in what I said and those are not the only things I have had happen to me. And I do know there are many people that would gladly have my life. However people's choices, mine included, in life is what makes this rock we live on so bad. It's true many bad things that happen people have no control over, but many we do. People have more control than they think. Personally I believe in a mix of fate and freewill.

There are situations without any escape routes. You have to fight over your freedom, your life, your rights and your future. It's not fate. You can either fight for yourself, or choose to let other people ruin your life to its core.
Even if we are thrown into the depths of despair, if there is one spider thread we can grab in order to get out, we can grab it and hold it no matter what. We - humans, have the strength to do that. Although whether to grab it or not, is up to each individual.
Stay a bit longer, a year or two. Indeed you passed through a great deal of trouble. But once you get to know the people here, I believe your insights will change.

I know bad life experiences can make you stronger. One problem with me I am contently bombarded with troubles. I have grown stronger yes but I never catch a break. I don't know. I just that once one problem is dealt with more pop up. It never ends. Yeah the same goes for others but knowing that doesn't do me much good.

I've experienced similar. I really don't want to post the whole depressing list here, but it starts with being abused as a young kid and goes into modern day with being in constant pain with no relief or effective treatment, almost three years running now. And no, knowing that other people have gone through just as bad or worse doesn't help.

What helps is you taking control of the situation. You can choose to let everything run you into the ground, and decide that your life is terrible, or you can choose to do what you can to direct it the way you want, even if it's only in a small way. You're in charge of your own happiness and the direction of your life. Bemoaning your fate and expecting the world to change doesn't do a damn thing.

I agree with this observation. Not everyone needs to like each other but everyone does need to be civil. Please don't make me post in red.

Like Miss Piggy woe as me? One of the three Mental Illnesses I have a Severe Depression, not just regular Depression. The other two are Bi-Polar Type 2, and I'm Schizotypal. Since the last one less known here is what it is: Schizotypal personality disorder (STPD) or schizotypal disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a need for social isolation, anxiety in social situations, odd behavior and thinking, and often unconventional beliefs.

See above. Plus the abuse thing I was sexually abused, only once though, when I was a child.

Don't worry about it. I'm use to it from people. And to answer another person the no break for me is when I was 14 my grandmother died. 6 months later my dad got into a car accident that sent him to prison for 7 years. On my 16th birthday I was in a foster care group home. After that things went well for awhile then I turn 21 and began heavy drinking. The Goddess Ron saved me from it. The girlfriend thing, my father choosing a former crack whore over me many times, the Crisis Stabilization Unit, Bay House (So much like Foster Care), and now here I am. I feel let down, but I feel that way for a reason.
