No no no no no no no

      Ziggy Stardust lives for ever!

      Say it ain't so!
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

I rarely get actually emotional about celebrity deaths, but when I heard the news, I cried. I feel like my youth is shattered, and I think the world lost a serious talent. He kind of felt immortal, like he'd always be there to reinvent himself and make amazing music.

Not exactly a "celebrity" in the same way, but I cried a little when Tony Hart died back in 2009, and was sad to see Terry Nutkins pass in 2012. It's the attachment to one's youth that does it.

I heard the second I turned on my phone, my sister in law wrote. I'm still crying so sad... and I'm not usually emotional over celebrities either. But this really hits hard.

I'm going to play his entire discography today. I'll fill in the gaps in my collection with Spotify. So much great music. I'm so sad he can't make more.

Blackstar is brilliant, though, and critics loved it. At least he went out at the top.

Poor guy. I'm glad he's out of pain. I watched Labyrinth for the first time last year and loved it. I will have to watch some of his other works.

It sound trite to say "We were just talking about him", etc., but we were. How sad, another legend gone. Changes....

I saw this right before I went to bed this morning, and I figured I just misread something in my tired state. Now I know it's true. A true talent has left us. Thank you for the gift of one last album.

Still haven't recovered from the shock. On his birthday, his official Facebook page posted a picture of him, where I thought he looked sick, but I figured it was probably makeup for a video or something... just watched Lazarus, some parting gift he left us.
