Do you think robots are efficent in today society?

    Re: Robots

They do make our cars, computers, and most things we don't think about. I would say they are pretty efficient. If you're talking about AI, that's a different story.

I'd love to have a JARVIS system in my home (Iron Man's AI software, for the one's who haven't seen the Marvel movies).

Maybe I should have explained more clearly. What I meant by efficent is to know how effective the robot CPU or AI is.

Major strides are being made on the forefront of A.I. sciences (many being over in Asia) and are already pretty impressive if you'd take the time to do the research.

You're still failing to explain here. CPUs and AI are two very different things and efficiency is relative based on what something is attempting to do and what it's being compared to.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

            Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

              Re: Robots

Efficency would have to be determined on each individual robot. Something nobody is capable of saying.

Effective? Well I don't know about you guys but I don't come across much AI outside of computer games, not knowingly anyway. So the answer is either: Who knows or yes, they're so effective (that is, flawlessly natural), that we don't even notice them.

Regarding experimental AI, look up anything by Boston Dynamics. Scary, almost.

                Re: Robots

I have no idea if AI is effective, but the study is interesting. Honda has made amazing progress with AI in Japan. I have been out of the loop (I haven't been keeping myself up to date as much as I used to), but there seems to be a major rise in AI efficiency all around the world. And what we see on the news and in public media only scratches the surface of what is evolving in AI. Nanobot technology is an amazing AI technology that is being researched for everything from medicine to war, and even agriculture. I give it another 100 or so years to see if AI is really going to make major changes in our world. Then again, if you follow the logic of Ray Kurzweil, technology grows at an exponential rate, so AI can even be making major changes for private and public use in the next 20-30 years.

I think robots will excel first in the sex industry. True story time. When vhs and beta came onto the market, the winner was determined by which one the porn industry would use. Vhs won out.

Anton LaVey says the same thing. It makes sense; porn is a billion dollar industry.

Not necessarily related to AI, but does anyone ever wonder what people are going to when automation completely takes over the workforce? It's about gotten that way already

                          Re: Robots

So far automation has always generated new jobs. I think that mass production could be automated but there will always be a place for custom and individual pieces that can't be mass produced. The has to be a minimum number of orders before automation is profitable. You still need technicians to repair and modify the robots for particular jobs. You need software technicians to program them and others to install them.
