    Bring back awesome words

    just read this: http://www.lifehack.org/articles/com...ing-again.html

Especially amused by these words, which I could easily fit into the US election thread...

    20. Trumpery
Things that look good but are basically worthless. I said THINGS, not people.

    24. Cockalorum
A small man with a big opinion of himself.

    15. Mumpsimus
Is an incorrect view on something that a person refuses to let go of.

    3. Brabble
Tio argue loudly about matters of no importance.

    18. Snollygoster
    I
think we can all agree this is a fantastic sounding word. It means a person who has intelligence but no principles; a dangerous combination. Watch out for the snollygosters, they live amongst us.

But the best word out of the bunch (in terms of everyday usefulness) has to be fudgel.

I found a list of 23 of these on my FB page, but this website has so many more http://www.dictionaryofobscuresorrows.com/:

"Monachopsis: The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place."

"Vellichor: The strange wistfulness of used bookshops."

"Jouska: A hypothetical conversation that you compulsively play out in your head."

"Anecdoche: A conversation in which everyone is talking, but nobody is listening." (this is why I don't go clubbing).

"Occhiolism: The awareness of the smallness of your perspective."

Shrammed. It means very very cold. And said with enough emphasis it can send a shiver through me just saying it. It comes from the West Country of England (Old kindgom of Wessex) and was always listed in the dictionaries as being archaic, even when I was a girl. Yet aunts and uncles often still were using it in Wales.
And yes, I am shrammed this morning.

I found this article with alternative words to "bae", but I didn't find them any better.

Balderdash. You can say it with so much more feeling that "bull!".
