Female Deacons in the Catholic Church? Possible future.

So apparently Pope Francis is in favor of having the Vatican investigate early female Church leaders. Possibly as a prelude to opening up Deacon positions to women. Deacons don't carry all the roles of a full priest but they do carry a number of them and this would be an interesting step by the Church to take. Also less likely to have a massive number of clerics start subscribing to the "Empty Seater" ideology than going straight for full induction to the clergy.

I'm up for it. My inner penis genital or your outer clitoris doesn't alter our ability to worship questionable ideas. Good for the Pope.

It'd be a fun shift to see. Though we're in for a wait no matter what. Right now he seems to be playing with the idea of having an investigative commission set up. There's a decent distance between him playing with the idea and an investigative commission giving back a report that leads to him opening up deacon positions. Still small steps are better than no steps and this one is long overdue.

There have long been stories, rumors, innuendo, etc. about ancient Popes having removed parts of the Bible involving women in important roles. Who knows what hidden scrolls are buried somewhere, or were burned centuries ago? If an English king could produce an edited version of the Bible and have it take on major global significance, anything could happen. It's a paper and papyrus version of our other thread about the past/future/media/technology changing history.

Can you hear me, Major Tom? I think I love you.

I've come to the assumption women must be the baddasses of the universe for it's other half to be so frightened of it.

A bit late but the commission that Francis was considering in May seems to have been appointed
