    King Arthur's castle?

The remains of a large castle complex under Tintagel Castle dating to the late 6th/early 7th century coresponds to the reputed birth place of King Arthur, at about the right time (assuming he, or someone like him, actually existed).

Ancient castle discovered near mythical birthplace of King Arthur: Archaeologists find gigantic structure built during the Dark Ages in discovery which could shed light on Arthurian legends

    From the article:

Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

This is a really cool find, whether or not Arthur was a real person or only a legend.
