That way you get to try out recipes with your own personal supply and can get used to its appearance, smell, feel and taste before looking for it in the wild! Genius!
Sounds crazy but there can be minor differences between wild plants and cultivated plants. Enough so that even side by side it can be difficult to say they are the same plant. That's not counting environmental differences that can have influences even within a couple of yards between plant beds. Granted that close not great differences typically that would change physical appearance though. Do acknowledge though a lot depends on the plant family in general though.
