    Mass Desicration of Burial Sites

    Story here

I haven't been seeing this news story anywhere else except for facebook pages, so I thought I'd share this here. For a while, people in North Dakota have been peacefully protesting against building pipelines in Native land, and it's been met with brutal opposition, such as using tear gas, and there have been numerous arrests. And things just seem to be getting worse, now they mow down a large number of prayer and burial sites. It's absolutely disgusting and I think the word should get out more regarding these horrific acts.

I have a few questions that are going to be of an opinion most wont like.
Eventually isn't the earth full of dead bodies anyways?
Out of curiosity, are there sacred sites of the dead other than the Native Americans that we don't use or have set aside?

Eh. that's all I got actually. I personally sentimentally think it sucks. But on a pragmatic a dead body is just matter...I'm not that upset.

Main concern seems to be contamination of water table by pipeline leaks...but the sacred site for some is a concern.

Go to any big city in Europe, Asia, and you can't sink a shovel without hitting a dead king. There are more dead around these days than there are living...
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Re: Mass Desicration of Burial Sites

So I'm personally not ok with the government taking Native American land. They've done a really good job of decimating entire populations and putting them on these tiny pieces of land that don't support them. What land they do have they have a right to keep and if they say no to a damn pipeline then those rights should be respected.

White Man been speaking for forked tongue through its government for many years and in violations of the treaties it signed with the various nations. I think that is a significant part of it it's a continued violation of things promised to them as a people. The Corp of Engineers has already come out and said they are right but money is talking here and showing once again big business is the actual government running our country.

Richard III found in a parking lot!

Well during the Mexican-American war, the states won a few areas such as California. So I have no problem telling people to get the eff out of our land.

Seems people would get upset if I actually said that. But Mexico signed that treaty and thus 'lost' that war. So...that's what I have to say about that.

Yes, and maybe eventually some become fossil fuel. You never know who's in your gas tank.

I mean, it sucks that they're doing this, and I'm making a mental note there's another reason for alternative energies (cough cough 5.6 earthquake). But legally, there's nothing that can really be done. I think it's called eminent domain or something, but basically the government can seize your land for the "common good". They nearly demolished a neighboring town (and its famous candy factory) for the benefit of a city 60 miles away. Your options are large-scale protesting and emigration.

Looks like violence has started to been used against the protestors.
