Trump is a puppet. One who doesn't care to be educated on any important issues. It's pretty clear in his speeches, or lack thereof, and his never ending flip-flopping. It's not him I'm really worried about, as much of a headache he and his supporters gives me. It's the rich people that whisper in his ear who really concern me.

Oh yeah... He's got a head all full of stuffin', and he don't believe in nothin'... Except Alex Jones, and Trump's stinkin' rich cronies and alarmingly in-grown family. And since "reality" is a concept that doesn't sit well in his belly, THAT is a very real concern.

Churchill had a vicious streak, evidenced in the treatment of the Tonypandy Rioters (the site is actually in the town next to where I live).

Colonialism is still not usually recognised for the horrors it endorsed and committed.

In the US, May 1st is "Loyalty Day."

One of the extraordinary beauties of the US is that a citizen is not, in any way, required to be loyal to anything at all.

Personally, I have a deep loyalty to the US constituation. Please celebrate Loyality Day in any way you choose, but, uf like me, your loyality is to the US constiturion, you may want to celebrate by biting your thumb at a current president who has attempted tp violate that constitution, and failed.

May the costitution survive! As long as it does, I will be loyal.

I think the part I find most interesting on comparing those two is that officers don't have,

"I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of officers appointed over me,"

The UCMJ distinction is interesting just not quite as interesring as the above.

The oath isn't the actual legal standard that is gonna be applied at a court martial. Can a general defy the Pres? Possibly. Is he liable to enjoy the results if he points to his oath not including "obey the orders of the President" as his primary defense? Free time is awesome, less so when it's all spent in an 8 by 10 cell.

If I recall my Korean War history enough General MacArthur and President Truman danced that dance. Truman essentially relieving MacArthur for ignoring his orders and statement he made contrary to the Presidents administrations goals in Korea and doing his own thing there.

I think it was the nukes but also the political establishment calling all the shots regarding how the war was to be fought and where. MacArthur wanted bridges and such blown to slow the advance and Truman prevented it for instance. Basically the fore runner of what we'd see in Vietnam with the Government selecting targets and such not the commanders in the field or how to fight the war.
