    That was a great poem!

I'm not real familiar with Lady Gaga ('cept from American Horror Story), but she did a bang-up job.

Amazing Grace may end up as the song of the year; and, of course, Hallelujah... (Cohen would be so pleased).

(Now I understand how people felt about Kennedy).
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Well, I'm so glad that the nightmare is finally over as it should be. I'm also glad that Biden and Harris will restore order and goodness once more to my country.

Corbin....wanted to follow up here. Have the facts as you see them, of bidens general rapeniss, subsided? If they hadn't ( and again as you see them) but he also had brilliant ideas otherwise, how would (or would) that effect your earlier apprehensions but..also, your support? The extent to which we're willing to support a possible or actual rapist seems like it might be consequential.

    Biden's "general rapeniss"?

Uhm... Iffin' you mean the accusation of rape made by a woman whose legal team quit after discovering she was a chronic liar...

EVEN FOX NEWS stopped pushing that pure garbage claim, except in that slithery way they have of asking " why aren't the libs making more of this story that we aren't reporting either"?

Exactly. Why is that still even relevant now?

That's the point of following up a year later. I didn't want to assume that you'd been convinced one way or another, and was looking for an unfiltered reply.

Well, I wasn't convinced at all with her lies to give her 15 minutes of fame. Also, I happened to be a Biden supporter who I voted by the way.

I think their press shop handled it pretty well, myself. The truth of the allegation was irrelevant to the damage it could have caused, and that they could have caused to themselves by mishandling it. Didn't convince everyone, though. I know a few biden voters who think that there was a there, there.

One of those things we have to look back on and wonder about, now. Sure, the GOP needs to spend some time in the wilderness - but as a country, we found ourselves in a strange place where at least some voters believed they were being asked to choose between a republican and a rapist - and picked the rapist. On the flip side I expect that there were plenty of people who saw enough to allay their doubts - but if they hadn't, would they have held their nose and pulled the lever for biden, or simply not voted, or pulled the lever for trump? The question can be repeated for a number of other perceptions, and we can grant for purposes of discussion that some of the items are as much an issue of pure perception as the allegations against biden were. Consider the questions below from the POV of a person who looks as poorly on the first item as the GOP hoped dems would look on the issue of rape allegations.

We're not really being given a choice to vote for communism or socialism in the US - but if the choice truly were between communism or socialism and fascism...would we pull the lever for fascism?

We're not really being given a choice to vote for racial justice or white supremacy in the US - but if the choice truly were between racial justice and white supremacy...would we pull the lever for white supremacy?

Or, OFC, does a person hold their nose and pull the lever for the first thing in order to avoid the second?

    In life there is suffering.
The cause of suffering is illusion.
    Dispelling illusion relieves suffering
The eight fold path is the relief of suffering.

I've got this loopy idea, I think you'll like it....follow me through the weeds. I think that the state of american political discourse has created something like zen through exhaustion.

Where we might normally expect a state like that to create profound insight or a sense of calm - it might be the case that in this setting, produced unwittingly and unintentionally - rather than what we might call a mindful practice - it lead to disorientation and dissonance.
