So I finally edited my pics. I didn't take a lot of animals because I wanted to enjoy the view. So here's my album of me!
Safari Park trip
Break down of trip? Sure!
~Road trip the scenic view along the coast (first a big breakfast at Norm's and picked up some trail mix for the zoo)
~Stopped by Oceanside Pier for a beach break. Walked around the pier with my shaved ice (of course) and pretty much got a little sun kissed and my hair full of ocean salt
~Finally made it to the motel at about 4:30 tired as all hell. The hotel was awesome. Got an upstairs room. Everything was looking new and luxurious. We were in downtown Escondido so everything was within five minutes. (and the park was 15 minutes away)
~Sarah went to visit her cousin and her newborn. So I stayed in and took a well needed nap and binged watched on Food Network Chopped.
~Woke up about 9pm and we headed out down the street to Olive Garden. Sarah had a gift card so it was FREE! We took it back to the hotel to enjoy it in our jam jams while watching tv.
~Finally passed out around midnight after pasta coma.
~Hit Denny's at 9:30am for pancakes.
~Hit Subway for a 6 inch (our lunch for the zoo). Filled up our water canteens and headed out.
~Weather was nice. About 89. And the entire zoo has misters every five feet. So pretty good. Plus I used my umbrella and that's why I'm not a crispy critter like my friend Sarah.
~The park was less than half full I would say. Some big groups of kids from like YMCA and stuff. But we could easily avoid them. Probably the same 3 groups all day. We could walk around and go through paths with not a person in sight. No lines for anything except the tram. And that was maybe 20 minutes (Again all full of misters through the line area.
~Did the African tram, which was awesome. It was during afternoon so I took the time to munch on trail mix and get my water in.
~Then we ate our pre made lunches in one of the mister areas. We sat with only one other group at a far table. Was soo nice. And I got a big cup of lite lemonade. Then I used the cup to just fill with free ice water.
~Then we hiked up to the condor ridge and saw the condors flying about. Checked out some leemurs and meerkats, lorikeets, cheetahs and her 6 yes 6 cubs! It was like an Asian celebration thing going on so we watched a show of Asian acrobats, drummers, dancers and such. That was pretty awesome.
~So they have this tethered hot air balloon ride. It goes up higher than the statue of liberty and you get a panoramic view of the park. It was totally awesome! And it was only $15 so we jumped on it. It was us and 4 other people. That's it. It swayed a lot, but once up there, the views were amazing. Def the highlight of the trip.
~Some more walking about till we just had enough safari.
~Then did the drive back in traffic. Booo.

I slept till 11:30am. Pooped.

I don't look like this. Obviously I'm not a strawberry
But I did make a Diabetic friendly strawberry shortcake. It's chopped strawberries sprinkled with Spelnda (it works like sugar and it makes a light syrup instead of that jarred god awful red goop). Then you top it on a individual angel food cake and dollop on some whipped cream.



Lol, this looks like a huge bowl. It'st just a small disposable oatmeal bowl I use for work.

My wife decided she was sick of my face, so she forced me to grow a beard. I now look like this:
