    Online Celtic Information

Are there any websites you'd recommend for a good basic overview of Celtic paths? I'm talking to a girl who is interested in them and I'd like to be able to point her in a good direction.

    Re: Online Celtic Information

I'm pretty new to it all myself so I'm still seperating the wheat from the chaf, but there are a few sites I have found interesting.

    Reconstructionist
http://www.paganachd.com/ = This is a great introduction to Celtic recon. Although I don't consider myself a reconstructionist and doubt I'd ever go that way, I do find inspiration about my gods and how to honour them, through the hard work of the recons.

http://www.imbas.org/imbas/index.html = this site is inactive now, but has a few interesting articles on it.

    Wicca
I'm so far not impressed by most the paths calling themselves Celtic Wicca, but a google search will bring up plenty such paths and your friend could decide for herself. I can't find any decent site that isn't plagued with pop-ups or doesn't claim the Celtic Tree Calendar as not only factual, but central to their beliefs!

The one contradiction to this is the Anderson family of traditions. There are aspects of these that I have taken to and am absorbing into my own personal path (and so far I have not knowingly come across any of Graves' bullcrap history).

http://www.well.com/~zthirdrd/WiccanMiscellany.html = She's an Anderson author who has recently inspired me, although her website is uninspiring and she herself is prone to being very Ravenwolfish at times.

You friend may also be interested in looking into druidism and/or druidry.

I don't know how much this will help. I've been all over this internet thing looking for decent information! Oh I also have a few sites just on Celtic cultures and history from a non-pagan point of view, if they would be any use? Also a few wiki links and blog pages related to Brigantia, but that's probably getting too specific.
夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?

Oh, wonderful. Thank you so much for your help. Yes, if you want to include the Celtic history, I'd appreciate that. I'm sure she would find those interesting as well.

        Re: Online Celtic Information

I'm not even done reading through those sites myself yet. I do wish some of the articles would back up their claims a bit more, but especially the article on the Gods on the IMBAS site has been really eye-opening and helped me to understand where the various gods in my life fit (I like it when something explains why I do what I do, rather than when I do what I do because of what something explains ^^).

The only links I have bookmarked for the history are http://www.maryjones.us/index.html Which is heavy going but gives you the chance to read the texts and stories for yourself and pull out your own threads of Truth; and the very generic http://www.britainexpress.com/Histor...ic_Britain.htm for those who know nothing at all about Celtic societies.

Ah how could I possibly forget.. http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=10839 This one caught my attention because a lot of the 'myths' it busts, are repeated frequently in historical writings so it is hard to know who is right. It's all food for thought and I am just about at the point of just trusting my instincts on how to honour my gods. I'm sure my instincts are at least as reliable as anything I could read!
