    Myths About Eyes

I am really interested, since i cannot seem to find much more online about the myths/legends behind eyes than the Eye of Horus, i was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the eyes of people....what was said about them in ancient times, what were the myths surrounding a persons eyes?

    Re: Myths About Eyes

There are the myths of the Evil Eye and all of the gestures and artifacts used to ward them off.
There once was a man who said though,
It seems that I know that I know,
    What I'd like to see,
Is the I that knows me,
When I know that I know that I know.

I am blanking on the country, but somewhere in the world, it was believed that people with blue eyes could see ghosts.

I take it your mom missed the news about Atlantis being found in a Spanish swamp?

    Re: Myths About Eyes

Historically in Europe (at least) it was believed that some kind of ray, called "eye beams" shot out of your eyes and actually touched the things you look at. You'll find diagrams in DaVinci's notebooks, and references to this idea in Shakespeare.

It's the idea that vision works from inside out, rather than from outside in, that leads to the idea that the eyes have power to project one's will.
Those who have suffered understand suffering and therefore extend their hand.

I can't do everything, but I can do something.

    That's a fairly common saying, but I don't know where it's from.
