    Since Feeling is First

    Since feeling is first
Who believes in the syntax of things
Will never wholly kiss you. Wholly to be a fool
While Spring is in the world
    My blood approves--and kisses
Are a far better fate than wisdom. Lady,
I swear by all flowers, don't cry
The best gesture of my brain is less
Than your eyelids' flutter which says
That we are for each other.
Then, laugh, leaning back in my arms

    For life's not a paragraph
And death, I think, is no parenthesis

      Ancestors

We have waited here for you,
      from a time long past,
we are your ancestors from the barrow and grave,
and you are our decendent so meet our gaze.

My ancestors looked at me and asked,
what have done for the history of our line,
a history that was gifted to you for your lifetime,
a lifetime to tell so lets here your boast's.

Shocked I stood my tears running wide,
what had I done I raged inside,
I said nothing but thought back over my life,
What had I done with the gift they gave.

I have continued the line I stated,
My Ancestors said "it was the least we expected".

I have lived a good life I stated,
      My Ancestors said "For whom".

      I worked hard I stated,
My Ancestors said "So does a serf".

      I was a Soldier I stated,
My Ancestors said "So was Olaf the Saint".

I was a good man, honest and wise,
My Ancestors said "it would hold more water, if others said likewise".

I thought and I pondered and time went by,
what could I say to these ancestors of mine,
eventually words came from my mouth,
      and were honest and true.

I did great deeds throughout my life,
I met a good women and made her my wife,
to each other we gave words that I held to all of my life,
my daughter was loved and raised remembering you,
I protected my family, hearth and home,
but all of my life my words were true and my own.

      My Ancestors said,
      "then pull up a seat,
      we remember your deeds,
and the family we will greet,
but most of all your words were strong and wise,
and you never made stated words that you did not realise,
these are the things that brought tears to our eyes,
watching you live true in a world full of lies".

        The Eternal She

        I gave a girl
        My soul
        She looked at it
        Smiled faintly and dropped
        It into
        The gutter
        Casually

        God! She had class.
