So people who read a lot won't be surprised by this but a new study shows people who identify with characters in books may change their behavior to more closely match that character's. source

Not surprised at all. One memorable summer all my children believed they were the characters from Swallows and Amazons.... and back in childhood one of my brothers believed he was Biggles... Sometimes we felt like hitting him with a propellor!

Oh I know this is true. My favorite book in college was about a young girl named Liadan HAHAHAHA and she was a healer in her kingdom.
Not only did I chose her as my screen name, I actually changed my major to nursing after I read the book. Originally I wanted to be a high school science (mostly chemistry and biology) teacher.sigpicComment

I have a friend who has watched so much FLCL that I recognize his posture at a distance because he looks like a silhouette from one of the screen shots in the anime. It's insane how much everything about his identity whispers of a six-episode series.Comment

I was never much of a reader. I always preferred to read non-fiction and leave the fiction to movies and videogames. But I wrote my own stories as long as I can remember - and ended up emulating my own characters. I sort of wrote what I wished to become, I guess. So I'm not sure how that fits. But that's how it was for me. I feel like my life's a story and my writings were a way to put on paper an example for myself; a goal, maybe. I wasn't very fond of letting another author do that for me. :XD:
EDIT: Although....I confess I did emulate a certain cartoon character long ago. I still like one kind of food to this day, a taste acquired because that character liked it. lol

I don't really know if I would call my transformation as "becoming" a fictional character so much as I would call it finally finding what I "identify" with. But that's probably just nit-picking.
