    Hera

I have always had an affinity for Hera. Though her reputation has suffered greatly, even through people like Homer, i have always managed to hold fast to her positive traits. I suppose the same could be said for almost any ancient God, as they all seem to have both positive and negative traits. I have noticed, however, that I have yet to come across a Pagan who holds Hera in 'Patroness' status. Though I have, in fact, come across people who hold Hecate or Kali or The Morrigan as Patroness, which I find interesting.

This article is a good one, and describes how I see Hera, despite much of the negative associations which were eventually put on her.

[note: I recognize the claim of a ancient 'matriarchy' as being suspect, as an anthropology student...that said, I look beyond that detail in this article.]

Thoughts? Ideas on Hera? Can you see beyond the 'jealousy' that is so ingrained in our current understanding of Hera?

    Re: Hera

Just some further info on Hera....

    From: http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Hera.html#Encyclopedia
"Hera is a purely Greek divinity, and one of the few who, according to Herodotus (ii. 50), were not introduced into Greece from Egypt."

And a good point form summary of her attributes:
