Update on the Chat Situation, Call for Volunteers!

I'm so so sorry that regular chats have taken the back burner, you guys. Mea Culpa.

Here's why, short version: Was really sick last fall. Sorted that out just in time to move to CA. Got a job and was living in a hotel, moved into an apartment, THEN L finally got hired, and we found that two of us could NOT both commute up the SF peninsula! It took waaaay too many resources.

So, good news is, I have a new job. Start this Saturday.

Bad news is, I will work nights, and any nights I'm not working will often be pre-empted by family matters.

Because of this, if the forum wants regular chat events (for those of you who are new, we used to have chats on a set subject twice a week), I need some volunteers. If we do a similar setup to last time, we would have set chats on a weeknight, rotating through, and trade off more general religion topics and something like a writer's club and a cooking club on Sundays. This means that each thing would only be once or twice a week, making it easy to schedule it in without it being a drain on anyone's resources. I will keep the calendar and announcements running, but will only be able to attend now and then.

What I need is people who will figure out a topic for a specific event, give it to me, and be present that night to get things rolling. It can be a roundtable conversation, how-to, Q&A, you name it! All that I ask is that it's tilted toward the perspective of that "branch" of the pagan family when the conversation gets started.

This is what we had before:

Weeknight chat (and I'm happy to pole again to see what night is best):

    Heathen night
    Kemetic night
    Hellenist night
    Celtic night
    Eclectic night

On Sunday morning (this allows non-American time zones to make it)
Interfaith discussion: more open topics ("what is prayer, and how does it work for you?), Q&A's with interfaith members or information/presentations on other belief systems, other topics that can be gentle, mellow, uplifting, etc...

    Writer's workshop

    Cooking workshop

Ok, folks, I need help if we want to get this running again with the school year. If you're willing to help once a month (or even once every other month for some of the specific pagan groups) please talk to me on here, or PM me. This was very beneficial, and I'm sorry this past year has been so nuts that I had to let it drop.

As a reminder, too, our chat room lobby is always open! If you are just hanging out, put a note in the General Chat thread and let people know!

Not a single offer? This is a shame. I wish I were in a compatible time zone and didn't also work nights. Not that I have any areas of expertise. I'd have loved to help in some way though. Hopefully someone able will come along soon. I imagine Cealia would like to run the Kemetic chat. Although I see she's not so active at the moment either so maybe hasn't much time herself..
夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?

I'm not sure how many evenings I'll have free yet. I'm also not willing to explain any part of my belief system in detail (no I'm not secretive, why do you ask? )which would leave...

      Jedi chat or.....

      the Imperial Cult

and since I'm heretical by the standards of decent numbers of Jedi and the God-Emperor is mildly anti-thetical to PF values, it'd end badly.

I don't know if I'd be any real help but I'd be happy to help, if I can

If it isn't on Thursday night, then I'm generally willing to drop in and ask questions/make a nuisance of myself/watch the show. Thursday night will be class though. Other week nights are liable to be increasingly free as we move out of summer.

I can help with evening chats, but mornings would be out for me. I could help with a Kemetic chat if there's interest in that, or maybe a traditional witchcraft chat instead/also.

fair warning, by Imperial Cult (since it occurs to me that the term can be used for multiple items), I mean the one from Warhammer 40K that tends to toss out the occasional Exterminatus...

That said, it might take a while to get my sources together. Wouldn't want to misrepresent anything. My escorts are irritable.

I figured with the god-emperor bit tossed in.

(The only other god-emperor I can think of would be the one from Dune... Which, um, I would also chat that topic. But then, maybe getting too far away from reasonable pagan topics here, heh. )

                    Bahh!!!

                    Man/God rulers aren't that rare...

The genocidal tendencies of the GEoM be a bit off putting but what's a few trillion corpses between friends....

err, nevermind, that may be just cause to skip the issue

on-topic: I enjoyed a number of the chats so I'll probably drop in a lot on a number of topics.

If I can help out, I'm willing to, but someone needs to remind me when things are going on. I'm not a spring chicken, yanno.

Alright: I have just put a poll HERE. Please go pick...I let you choose more then one to try and get a better idea!

Once the poll closes, we are rolling forward.

I'm going to follow the old layout, it was working well for us: Which means that this Sunday would be Writer's Guild, and next week's weeknight chat would be either hellenist or kemetic.

                          Any takers?
