Why are so many threads closed here?

Quite often I find a topic I would like to comment on - only to find that the thread is closed - for no obvious reason.

There seems to be something like an inflation of closed threads in the forum.

Why is that so?

They get locked if there hasn't been a reply made in the last 6 months.

There are two options at this point. You could start a new topic with your question or comment and reference the original topic, or you can contact a moderator to re-open the thread. ^_^

I'm so glad I noticed this thread... I also wondered why topics were 'locked'... My immediate reaction - because of other bulletin boards I've been on - is that there was 'nastiness' or 'flaming' going on, and so the discussion was shut down by a Moderator for THAT reason. Good to know that it's because there's been no new post made for 6 months, and anyone can re-start up the same discussion again... or ask that the original thread be re-opened. Thanks!!!
