Right now, staying home for 7 days sounds very appealing. Does that make me officially "old?"

Why is this a debate?
Living in Las Vegas means I'd rather spend a 7-day vacation anywhere BUT here.

Right now? Hmmm it's still warm in the Mediterranean, so there.
But I'm really wanting to go see some friends in London in the new year (my close friend who I want to see there the most still lives here, but will live there then).
7 days isn't long enough for anywhere outside Europe.

Re: 7-day holiday
Can I exchange the vacation for hard cash?
Failing that, errr, somewhere at least 48 hours drive from my current location and past that I'm not overly picky. Not having the complications inherent in my current life is enough to make it a vacation. The rest is a side item.life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.
Yoda: Dark Rendezvous
"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

Re: 7-day holiday
But do you have many Public/National Holidays Lorraine? Days when banks and shops close and many people are not at work on the same day? In England, we can take 20 days in a single year, off from work, but some people also get to be off on National Holidays (but fewer than it used to be). In the UK we have 8 Public Holidays, which includes Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. I'm not sure, but I think the US may have something like 11(??). There were around 11 when I lived in Germany. Augsburg, where I was, is the only German city with it's own public holiday. We were in Catholic land too, so celebrated one or two other days that wider Germany didn't observe.
In Japan, I also was permitted only to take seven holidays of my choosing from work. My days off were Monday and Wednesday, never together and never on a weekend when the language school was busiest. Japan has 15 public holidays but while most offices and businesses were closed, we had to work regardless. Although we could usually take a shorter day and get to celebrate some of the festival with friends after work. We did however, have a week off over New Year. Too much of Japan closes down over the New Year to be viable for the school to stay open. So I kinda got two weeks off, but with only one week being of my choosing.夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?

Re: 7-day holiday
Wowzers! That's insane hours ^^ I've been doing 60 hours a week recently and I thought that was hard going. I was once offered a job in a ski resort where I'd be doing 12 hour shifts 6 days a week at times, and I turned that down. Well, I say offered, I was offered the chance to apply for the job. I just thought those kinds of hours would kill me.
In my current job, we have to work every day of the year including Christmas Day, because of the nature of the work, but we get 20 days off, which works out as 4 weeks, so I guess it could be worse!夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?
