Learn to keep your mouth shut... I still have problems with this one, even though I recognize the importance. I've got the think before you speak down, but my logic doesn't always match up with reality. Ah, well, still working on it.
We are what we are. Nothing more, nothing less. There is good and evil among every kind of people. It's the evil among us who rule now. -Anne Bishop, Daughter of the Blood
I wondered if he could ever understand that it was a blessing, not a sin, to be graced with more than one love.
It could be complicated; of course it could be complicated. And it opened one up to the possibility of more pain and loss.
Still, it was a blessing I would never relinquish. Love, genuine love, was always a cause for joy.

Trust is knowing someone or something well enough to have a good idea of their motivations and character, for good or for ill. People often say trust when they mean faith.
Bill and Ted for the WIN! (I love Lincoln's whole speech at the end of that movie).

I'm kinda known for this one (in practice, more than for saying it... I always have a pocket knife, and it is always razor sharp):
A sharp knife is a safe knife (or can be reworded as "A dull knife is a dangerous knife")
Speaking of pocket knives... While this is not advice, it is something that I'm known for saying (it actually came from my dad): "If I'm wearing pants, I have a knife." This has led to friends commenting, in the rare case that I don't have a knife, "I can't believe you're just walking around without pants!"... or, rather than asking if I have a knife, "Hey, Nathan, you got your pants on?"
But, to turn that into advice, I guess: Never leave the house without a (sharp) pocket knife.

Does a push dagger count or does it have to be a pocket knife? How about a trench knife? I don't own any knives that aren't only for the kitchen, unless you can punch people with them.

I guess that's up to you. But, hardly a day ever goes by that I don't end up using a pocket knife for something. They're just a very handy tool to have around... but I've never been in a situation where I needed a knife as a weapon (although I do own a couple that are made for that purpose... but I almost never carry them.) YMMV, and all that.

Have you ever come across something that you could with a pocket knife and not a trench knife or push dagger?
