    What are your core beliefs?

I don't mean who do you worship, but what do you think the most important things are in life?

My beliefs revolve around 3 things, Logic, Compassion, and Open Mindedness. I think they balance each other out real well. Logic so we're not all squatting in a ditch, Compassion so we know to help each other out, and Open Mindedness for Faith, and to a lesser extent, for Science (science takes at least some faith) I think these three things cover everything else IMO.
What one believes in is infinitely more important than WHO they believe in.

    In Days of yore,
    From Britain's shore
    Wolfe the dauntless hero came
    And planted firm Britannia's flag
    On Canada's fair domain.
    Here may it wave,
    Our boast, our pride
    And joined in love together,
    The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
    The Maple Leaf Forever.

More seriously, my answer varies but for tonight I'm going to shamelessly steal from the Zoroastrians because I can.

      Good Thoughts
      Good Words
      Good Deeds
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

      Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

          1. Try not to be a bigger ass than is required to get the job done.
          2. If you slip up on number 1, forgive yourself and move on.
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

I don't really have 'beliefs' per se. I have an ever-evolving understanding of things that naturally changes as I assimilate new information.

But as for traditional virtues, I'd say Honor, Truth, Respect and similar things go a very long way.

I believe knowledge should never be accompanied by guilt.
I believe everyone is responsible for their actions and how they act and react.
I believe in making decisions based on inside factors and not outwardly.

Compassion is a great thing, as long as it is tempered with common sense. Unbridled compassion without an eye for the consequences can lead to massive problems down the road.

In my life I've seen people who mean well do what they 'thought' was the good, just, compassionate thing to do, and what it ended up doing was making the recipient dependent upon them instead of teaching them to stand on their own two feet.

It is as my wise old great uncle used to say... "Everything in moderation, my boy... everything in moderation, both virtues and vices. Remember that."
