After reading your story I have got pretty confused. Dragons are often met in the eastern cultures but they also played a big part in the European cultures as well.
The egg can show or tell you about something big and powerful within you, and you just need to find it.
I am not certain about the dream, but I can only advise you one thing-
Try to find this might within you, and try to use it in order to protect the ones who are close to you.
