I wasn't talking about the history of the word. The statement demons were always demons was due to one of half a dozen perspectives on angels/demons that considered demons to be a separate creation from the angels instead of the more pop-culture approach where demons are angels that rebelled against the LoH and lost.

Though of course it does all come down to perspective, and I'm glad you used that term. In Demonolatry, some of the Demons are fallen angels, some of them are pre-existing entities, some of them are deities from Canaanite or Mesopotamian pantheons. Then there are entities to whom the term 'demon' is now applied who were never a part of the early Judeo-Christian mythos and therefore are definitely not fallen angels... the lilu and lilitu being two of them.
