Playing Baldur's gate 2 for first time

I picked this up at a yard sale a few years back, and just now playing at it to see if it is something I would like. So far ok,but since it came out in 2000 a little "Old school"

Anyone ever play this, and how was your experience?

Re: Playing Baldur's gate 2 for first time

I had a lot of fun with it. I normally play NWN2 these days instead of dusting off BG2 just because BG2 is built around 2nd edition D&D which can be something of a migraine if you're used to 3.x but in a number of areas BG2 has arguably a better storyline, the graphics are pretty good even if a bit simplistic by modern standards and overall I had a lot of fun with it. I'll work my way back to it when I'm willing to put up with a 2E ruleset again.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

    Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

I'm actually doing a replay right now It's an amazing game, the BG series was a huge part of my childhood. Must have gone through it 7 or 8 times at least over the years.

One of my favorite games of all time. The first Baldur's Gate game was my intro to "wait, I like gaming" because before then I'd only watched stuff like Mario and I suck at those.

        I really, really love Bioware.
