    Does anyone know if there's a way to check if my aquarium light produces UV? I want to change the old tank into a terrarium but, I'm not sure what spectrum the lamp can make.

      I don't know for sure, but I don't believe standard bulbs create much in the way of UV. Do you need UV? Most people would (I think) get a special bulb for that.

        I am going to go to a hand therapist this week. My pinky is hurting and I am worrying that I have done something wrong to it. Two more days till I see the therapist.

          I need a bulb that produces at least red and blue light (which is theoretically easy enough) but, I'm worried the light isn't strong enough. Most species don't need UV really, at least not the ones I'm planting. I'll probably just try my current light and see if it's sufficient.

            I use to work in a pet store and they make special uv bulbs for reptiles and animals that need uv, but if all your using it for is plants a simple plant florescent light should do the trick, you could order one online or I think I saw them at home depot.

              If there's a part number or such on it, you can google it and see what the specs are.

                    Dolly has started to bring her food up again. I guess Whiskers have changed the recipe or something. Fine, I give in.. I'm switching to Purina One. They only keep the dried food locally though so I guess she'll have to switch to a dry-only diet. I desperately wanted to avoid that but it's got to be better than having her throw up every couple of days again.

                      Today's a local election day here. I'm voting on whether or not to increase property taxes so the high school can expand.

                      There's also a big to-do here in town about a guy who got fired from Walmart. He's been there many years, and he's our local Forrest Gump type. He tells customers if there's a better price on an item elsewhere and matches it (they're only supposed to do that if the customer asks), and he often asks people if they want a hug, and hugs them. Apparently the store's not happy that he saves people money, and someone must have been uncomfortable about the hugging. Now there's a big movement to boycott the place, etc.

                          I am incorrigible! So since last year I've been basing my language study around the Japanes academic year, changing my annual study aims at April instead of January. This means I start using new notebooks, textbooks and stationary at that time to. I have JUST started using a beautiful set of notebooks and what have I just been doing? Ordering yet more notebooks to put away for next year!

                          It's no wonder I feel like a year goes by so quickly these days. I'm always looking ahead to my next excuse to hoard stationary.

                            They're going to have to call school early today. Since I came in at 7 (now 10:30) we've gotten an additional three inches of wet, slick white stuff, and it shows no sign of letting up...

                              Thinking I did good getting a UPS(Uninterruptible power supply) because I had a nap,and the APP that works with the UPS told me it intervened in a quick power loss.

                                I have a Monster HTS 800 that I've had for about 15 years - works great. Always a good idea to have pc, etc. plugged into one.
