  • I'm getting some Golden Phoenix!

The bad news is that our duck herd was decimated by 'coons this spring. We only have two left.

But the good news is that K'Roe says I can get the Golden Phoenix cocks & hens I've been wanting!

They're show chickens, not for meat or eggs. They do produce feathers, though, that can grow from two to six feet long.

        OOOH!!! Glossy!

Can I talk you out of one of those feathers?

Chickadee has a (mostly illegal) collection, and would adore a foot long (or more) feather.

I might add, I can think of nifty stuff to do with feathers like that!!!

Other nights you are silent as death, a mirror in which the stars show themselves. Then I think you want to tell me something, but you never do. Of course I know I have written letters to no-one. “We still carry this primal relationship to the Earth within our consciousness, even if we have long forgotten it. It is a primal recognition of the wonder, beauty, and divine nature of the Earth. It is a felt reverence for all that exists. Once we bring this foundational quality into our consciousness, we will be able to respond to our present man-made crisis from a place of balance, in which our actions will be grounded in an attitude of respect for all of life. This is the nature of real sustainability.”

I friggin' love chicken. Seriously, they're really cool animals, I feel some sort of connection to their stupid yet hilarious way of doing stuff.
