I'm making a spell jar and I want to put something in to represent fire, but I'm having a hard time figuring out something that would be small enough to put in the jar (its a little bigger than a golf ball). Any ideas?

.99 cent lighter would be around that size.White and Red 'till I'm cold and dead.
sigpicIn Days of yore,
From Britain's shore
Wolfe the dauntless hero came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave,
Our boast, our pride
And joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

Carnelian, amber or garnet beads work well. Ashes... Cinnamon or cinammon candies. Red-hot candies or atomic fireball candies, or those Mexican chile candies would work, too.The forum member formerly known as perzephone. Or Perze. I've shed a skin.

Ohio blue tips.Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

These are all pretty awesome. I especially like the "memory" of a flame. A burnt bit of wood would fit great into my jar and it would look nice!
