    Here's an odd one

    Hello. ::

    I've been interested in spirituality for most of my life, but have also mostly refused religion after shaking off my family's in childhood. I was the first one they gave up on, and the reason we were pulled from religious school in the first place. In over 20 years and half a dozen attempts, I've never found the "coming home" that people talk about or a religious path that felt genuine. I don't think there's anything left to try.

    Recently I've started looking into a more structured approach to help me in becoming more serious about what does matter to me, and I have enough in common that we could probably benefit from each other. I guess I could sum my blended approach up as:

    I want to be connected to nature beyond simply enjoying it or valuing fauna while neglecting the flora.

    I want to turn myself towards developing myself and the world around me.

    I want a deeper understanding of everything that goes on.

    I want no pantheon for its own sake.

    I want no power or magic for its own sake.

    I want to be bound by no one's rules and customs whenever possible.

        Don't worry about that, we'll refine your sense of what is and is not odd in a week or two tops.

        Also if you could please sign over your sanity at the front desk. You won't be needing it here.
        life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

        Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

        "But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

        John Rowlands, The Grey King by Susan Cooper

        "You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

        Aslan, Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

                Welcome to. And to paraphrase the Cheshire Cat, we're all odd here and if you weren't odd you wouldn't be here.
                In fact you sound considerably less odd than the average member.
