Re: Time change - from Daylight Saving Time to Winter Time

I think it adds unneeded complexity and hassle into our lives, and that it is largely outdated. That being said, I do recognise the reasons why it was implemented in the past, but I just feel that it is not as relevant today.

Also, this is highly relevant! ^-^

I wish they'd leave it alone. It takes Mr Penry all day to alter the time on all his bloody clocks!

The solution is simple but no one I have mentioned it to over the years takes it seriously. Rather that "Daylight Savings" why not just go to "Winter Hours?" Everything opens an hour later. There, it's fixed.

It was invented by Germany to save energy in war time.

But we are not at war now!

The concept of dst was suggested by Ben Franklin in the 1700s, a bit before the Nazi's...

British Summer Time (UK's name for it) was first tried out in World War I. In World War II they doubled it to two hours instead of one. Made people as ratty as hell!

I don't like DST. It's a pain to set all my clocks and whatnot.

For once I appear to be with the majority, it's s moronic invention. It may at one point have had its uses, but the only argument I've seen presented for why it is not already abolished is: "Everyone else is doing it so we have to do it as well".

                        I've never liked it.

I can understand why it was first started WAY back when, but for purposes now, we no longer need it. Some states in the US (I know AZ is one) have completely ignored it, and no longer do it because it no longer has necessity.

I look forward when DLS no longer exists for the rest of the world.

That is - I hate this backward and forward.

DST for 12 months a year would be OK.

I don't see it like that. Getting up in the day light makes a big difference to my mood for the day. Whereas having it get dark earlier isn't something I mind at all.

I see no problem at all with getting up when it is still dark.

I don't think DST is that big of a deal...in the general scheme of things, its maybe a minor inconvienence. There are far greater annoyances in life than having to reset the clocks twice a year.
