    Texas treats prisoners right

We hear a lot of bad stuff about what goes on in Texas, and some criticism is valid. However, as we used to say before the invention of digital timepieces, "even a stopped clock is right twice a day."

Here is something going on in Texas that should be going on everywhere:

Prison Program Helps Keep Inmates From Reoffending By Equipping Them With Business Skills

IMHO - incarceration should serve three main purposes:

    1. remove dangerous people from the general population

    2. balance out the emotional need humans have for justice

    3. (most important) rehabilitate, so that former offenders can re-enter society in state which is better than the one they were in formerly.

It is #3 which we, as a society, constantly neglect, much to our ongoing misery, while this program addresses #3 in a fantastic way.
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

LOL - credit where credit is due. This looks like an exemplary program.

Its just nice to see on occasion that we can try and do some good. Instead of being complete block heads, and even taking tiny steps is better then no steps.
