Yay me! I don't think I've ever felt more in tuned to my spirituality, its connection to everyday life and how it plays out in praxis. <3

“You have never answered but you did not need to. If I stand at the ocean I can hear you with your thousand voices. Sometimes you shout, hilarious laughter that taunts all questions. Other nights you are silent as death, a mirror in which the stars show themselves. Then I think you want to tell me something, but you never do. Of course I know I have written letters to no-one. But what if I find a trident tomorrow?" ~~Letters to Poseidon, Cees Nooteboom

“We still carry this primal relationship to the Earth within our consciousness, even if we have long forgotten it. It is a primal recognition of the wonder, beauty, and divine nature of the Earth. It is a felt reverence for all that exists. Once we bring this foundational quality into our consciousness, we will be able to respond to our present man-made crisis from a place of balance, in which our actions will be grounded in an attitude of respect for all of life. This is the nature of real sustainability.”
    ~~Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

"We are the offspring of history, and must establish our own paths in this most diverse and interesting of conceivable universes--one indifferent to our suffering, and therefore offering us maximal freedom to thrive, or to fail, in our own chosen way."
~~Stephen Jay Gould, Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History

"Humans are not rational creatures. Now, logic and rationality are very helpful tools, but there’s also a place for embracing our subjectivity and thinking symbolically. Sometimes what our so-called higher thinking can’t or won’t see, our older, more primitive intuition will." John Beckett

Woo! Another big home project started and almost finished. In my small kitchen, I've always had a big hutch for all my dishes, and there was a little storage closet next to the fridge. Today, I took apart the hutch then went crazy on the closet with a sawzall. After widening walls, trimming boards, and drilling holes, I've mostly reassembled the hutch INSIDE the newly enlarged closet, save for putting on the doors. The rest will have to wait until I get back from my trip to see my wife!

I almost had a decent morning routine! Usually mornings are such hollow things for me, I'm not ecstatically crazy about getting up and taking my meds and stuff but hey, some good music and voilà!

I passed american literature . Only got a 4 which is exactly average. But I'm pretty proud seeing that I wasn't at a single lecture.

I identified nearly all the bugs in the pictures I've taken! Took a lot of flipping through a guide I happened to have lying around. Seriously, I don't remember where, when, or why I got it. It just managed to come in handy.

    Re: Yay me!

I finally learnt to speed read! I've room for improvement, like.. I still run my pen across the page rather than down the page, and sometimes I'll read a paragraph and realise none of it has gone in, so I've had to go back and read it again, but my words per minute has doubled on what it was (I would say every word in my head, at a calm and natural speaking speed). I've wanted to do this for years but just never got round to it.

Now if only I could learn to type faster without constantly mixing up 'a' and 's'...
夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?
